Where this path leads
-
Nowadays, most of the audio recordings, editing and mixing happens digitally, that is why one of the main producers tools is a DAW, or a Digital Audio Workstation
DAW allows us to record audio, edit it on the fly, play virtual instruments and work with MIDI, mix the tracks using plugins.
Ableton Live
Logic Pro
Pro Tools

A lot of modern music genres are using samples in one way or another.
It can be anything from swapping a drum sound with a sample, or uning a sound effect or even using a part of someone elses music in your own track.
In any case, a producer should be able to effectively find, select, edit, process and use a sound.
-
Looks like nowadaws you can make a professional record in your bedroom, but in reality it is not all that simple. There are lots of nuances to think of. Which microphone to use on what, where ot put it, what preamp works best with it – a producer should be able to answer all these questions.
There is no one right way to record a sound, but there are a lot of wrong ones. A well recorded material will require a lot less time to edit and mix, you will be able to focus on creativity instead of fixing the issues.
-
Synths and other sound design tools can be used not only to create new tebres and textures, they can effect the feelings and emotions of the listener, that is why a producer must know these tools and understand what is a sawtooth wave and how an LFO is different from an amp envelope.
In our course we will use the most popular modern and vintage synths to learn all about sound synthesis:
-
It is of course a very important building block of every song and every producer should understand how to make a pretty chord progression and what is a pentatonic. Our course delivers this knowledge easy and painless.
-
Basically, mixing is not wizardry. Set the levels, balance the frequencies, so that instruments dont fight each other, add some effects and there you go. Technically it's like that, but they dont call mixing both science and an art for nothing. A good mix can save a song, breathe life into it, let the listener feel the emotions of the composer.
-
Mastering is an important process full of nuances that can make or break the track. A mastering engineer has to be able to hear the smallest detail. Mastering requers concentration and pedantism
-
Making music is no easy task, understanding what to do with it once its done is just as hard.
In the history of music industry there was never a time when finding a listener for your music was as easy as it is today. Streaming services but guarantee an audience for any artist. Of course noone guarantees a profit. That is why, if you want music to be more than a mere hobby, you need to understand your options and find the best way for you to make money.
-
